What is "Road to Teheran" about

The project is about me trying to do the distance from Bonn (Germany) to Teheran (Iran) by foot in order to raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis.

Why by foot

I am a former semi-professional long distance runner (10km in 38, halfmarathon in 01:24:59) and love the idea of using my talent for a social project instead of just collecting medals.

Why MS

In march 2013 i was training for the austrian academic championships in halfmarathon and supposed to run the 21km in more or less 01:15:00 and to be under the Top10. Unfortunately my right hand and leg start to feel numb 3 weeks before competition. This feeling continued so I was hospitalised for one week. I guess there is no need to say what the doctors found. Two days after leaving hospital i tried to run 3km. My right leg wouldn't cooperate with my mind. I had a break down in front of my co trainer telling her about what I had just been diagnosed with. Later on my coach arrived and told him everything, too. I amde a promise to him not to quit. Not to give up. To keep on going. I dried my tears and went back training.

Two weeks later i stood at the startline in Vienna. 01:34:48. Top30.

Why Teheran

As a kid i mostly went on vacation to beach destinations (mediterranean sea, carribean, ...). I just need places to explore and to see how people are living in different places on earth. Not the random trips anymore. Beside that i guess some former neighbours and friends from Iran play a role, too.

Through which countries are you planning to run

Route will be through Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Iran. 7 borders in total.
